Organic Farming Association of India

Over the last three decades, large number of countries across the world have introduced different methods of organic farming for its high potential and productivity. Located in the Southern part of Asia, India is one such country all forms of organic farming are now practiced quite intensively, thanks to the huge contributions made by Organic Farming Association of India (OFAI).

Before speaking about Organic Farming Association of India (OFAI) we must mention about the concept of organic farming which has proved itself to be the most useful form of farming or agriculture in the last thirty years.
Organic farming refers to an alternate form of agriculture which is done without using any kind of chemical fertilizer, manure, insecticides and pesticides. Unlike general agricultural practices no chemical based products are used in organic farming and instead of that things like organic fertilizers, different bio-fertilizers, mineral powders like rock phosphate, green sand, original form of potash, crop residues, sewage sledges, press muds, forest litter industrial wastes, potassium rich organic amendments like rice straw and burnt rice are used for maintaining the fertility of the soil. In fact the use of these organic and bio organic product are helping in increasing the fertility of the soil which is ultimately resulting in the yielding of superior quality crops in larger quantity than other forms of farming.

This is the most important reason why so many countries across the world are now depending more on organic farming for increasing their agricultural productive. There are regulatory bodies in all countries that have set the standard of organic farming and Organic farming Association of India (OFAI)is the regulatory body for organic farming in India. Organic Farming Association of India (OFAI) is the one and only body in the country which guides about organic farming from the grassroots level. As agriculture is one of the main source of earning livelihood for a ,major percentage of the population of the country large number of farmers from all of its parts are taking memberships in the organization for practicing organic farming. One of the main reason behind the increasing membership in OFAI is the availability of intensive training which is given to the farmers for practicing this alternate form of farming.

Crop rotation is the most important reason behind the popularity of organic farming in India. Farmers in this country are too poor to buy acres and acres of land for cultivating different varieties of crops. Crop rotation has solved this problem, for them. It has now become possible for farmers to use a single block of land for cultivating different types of crops in different seasons. Organic Farming Association of India (OFAI) provides all necessary things needed for organic farming to the farmers and thus they are earning their livelihood quite successfully.

Apart from these, the aims and goals are important things to be mentioned about Organic Farming Association of India. The main objective of this organization is to involve more and more women farmers in its decision-making structures. Besides OFAI is also aiming at promotion of organic farming all over the country.
