Mission and Goals

Organic farming is one of the most extensively used form of farming in India. Large number of farmers all over the country are now practicing organic farming for increasing fertility of their soil because it is helping them to yield better quality crops in larger quality compared to the level of production in other forms of agriculture. Organic Farming Association of India (OFAI) is the only organization which is guiding the farmers to practice this alternate form of farming which is helping them to earn livelihood in a better way. Just like organic farming bodies in other countries, OFAI too has got a mission and goals to accomplish and achieve and it is working very hard to achieve it.
Speaking about mission and goals of Organic Farming Association of India (OFAI), we must mention something about this organization at first. Organic Farming Association of India (OFAI) is an organization which was et up in the year 2004 with an aim to train the farmers of the country for practicing organic farming successfully so that they can earn their livelihood better. OFAI is also the governing body of organic framing in the country and also set the standard of farming in the country. All kinds of organic materials that are needed for organic farming are supplied to the farmers by OFAI. Apart from that OFAI is also laying its emphasis on promoting the concept of organic farming throughout the country by all means and is also planning to involve more and more women farmers in its decision-making structure.

The other mission and goals of Organic Farming Association of India are given below:
  • Promotion of nature-friendly, scientific farming systems that are economic for the farmers, energy efficient and is focused on conservation of the empowerment of rural communities. OFAI also aims at building up knowledge and skills necessary for practicing organic farming.

  • To request the food processing ministry and all other concerned government bodies to advice farmers to use, process and sell value added products.

  • Enabling households engaged in organic farming to create necessary facilities and infrastructures for selecting, saving and exchange of seeds and rootstock of different types of crops.

  • To create awareness about the negative effects of other forms of agriculture where chemical products are used, to warn people about the consequence of green revolution.

  • To emphasize on the Union government and the state governments to install and follow some policies which will be helpful for the promotion of organic farming in the country.

  • To request the state governments for introducing courses on organic farming in all all agricultural and related institutions so that farmers can observe and learn the methods very well before starting organic farming. Apart from that it is also the objective of OFAI to implement promotional activities in organic farming.

  • To advocate the need of education for children belonging to the farmers' families. The organization also advocates the need of networking among farming families, opportunities, practical workshops and apprenticeship.

  • To work together with other organic farming organizations in the country for making the future of the farmers of the country brighter.
