These Organic Agriculture Principles were developed during the two-year participatory process. The basic purpose behind establishing certain principles is to inspire the organic movement and to explain the purpose of organic agriculture to the world. The need for following certain ideologies was felt much before, but its implementation was done much later. The commonly followed four principles of organic agriculture include, Principle of Health, Ecology, Fairness and Care. These principles are being established after doing a deep investigation and research on the need of elaborating different values of organic agriculture. The popularity of organic agriculture and its wide spread operation has made it essential to lay down these principles.
The Principles of Organic Agriculture is followed by the practitioners of organic farming and they have had a deep impact on its smooth functioning all over the world. The Principle of Health suggests that the Organic agriculture should maintain and increase the health of soil and plant along with the health of animal and human. All these four imposters are to be treated with equal importance. Among many other Beliefs of Organic Agriculture, the Principle of Ecology believes in making Organic agriculture based on living ecological systems and cycles and help sustaining them. These principles are strictly adhered to by the users of this type of agriculture. Organic agriculture, which practices crop rotation, integrated pest management and other techniques in order to maintain soil productivity, follows these principles with firm conformity.
Since organic agriculture is quite a different form of agriculture, it became a matter of importance to guide the people to practice a safe way of continuing it. The other principles like Principle of Fairness and Principle of Care are also quite important. While the fairness principle makes it clear that the farming should build on relationships making sure of its fairness in terms of common environment, the care principle states the need to manage this type of agriculture in a preventive and responsible manner. These principles add to the worth of the Organic agriculture and helps in sustaining the richness of soil and environment, so that the future generation can reap the benefits.
